Overview
Rohto Hydra is an over-the-counter (OTC) ophthalmic lubricant developed by The Mentholatum Company, a subsidiary of Rohto Pharmaceutical. The formulation features hydroxyethyl cellulose (0.6%) as its primary active ingredient, which serves as a demulcent to protect and hydrate the ocular surface. A distinguishing characteristic of the product is the inclusion of menthol as an inactive ingredient, which provides a signature cooling sensation upon application. Rohto Hydra is indicated for the temporary relief of discomfort caused by minor eye irritations from environmental factors such as wind or sun, and for the treatment of dry eye symptoms (keratoconjunctivitis sicca).
