Overview

Romlusevimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed as part of a combination therapy with amubarvimab (BRII-196) for the treatment of COVID-19. The combination, known as amubarvimab/romlusevimab or BRII-196/BRII-198, is designed to neutralize SARS-CoV-2 by targeting distinct epitopes on the spike protein, thereby preventing viral entry into host cells. This long-acting antibody therapy has demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing hospitalization and death among high-risk adults and pediatric patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. The combination was approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in December 2021 for use in adults and certain pediatric populations at high risk for progression to severe disease[6][9][10].
