Ronflux

Ronflux is a fixed-dose combination medication containing esomeprazole and domperidone, primarily indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and functional dyspepsia. Esomeprazole, the S-isomer of omeprazole, is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by covalently binding to and irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the proton pump) at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells. Domperidone is a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist with prokinetic and antiemetic properties; it enhances gastrointestinal motility and increases lower esophageal sphincter pressure by blocking dopamine receptors in the gastrointestinal tract and the chemoreceptor trigger zone. This dual-action approach addresses both the excessive acid production and the impaired gastric emptying often associated with reflux disorders, providing symptomatic relief from heartburn, acid regurgitation, and nausea.
