Overview

Rong-Yang-Jyh-Gan-Tang (RYJGT) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Committee on Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy in Taiwan. It is a complex multi-herb compound consisting of two established formulas, Long-Dan-Xie-Gan-Tang and Jia-Wei-Xia-Yao-San, supplemented with Dan-Shen (*Salvia miltiorrhiza*) and Hou-Po (*Magnolia bark*). RYJGT was specifically investigated as a therapeutic option for patients with chronic hepatitis C who were either non-responsive to or had contraindications for standard interferon-ribavirin therapy. In clinical studies, the formula demonstrated the ability to reduce serum HCV RNA levels and improve symptoms associated with TCM patterns of 'Damp-Heat' and 'Liver Qi Depression'.
