Overview
Rontalizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits interferon alpha (IFNα). It was developed by Genentech and Chugai Pharmaceutical for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease. The drug acts as an interferon alpha inhibitor, aiming to modulate immune system activity implicated in SLE pathogenesis. Clinical development reached up to phase II trials before being discontinued for SLE[1][3][5][7].
