Ropanicant

Ropanicant is a novel, potent, and selective small molecule antagonist of the neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine α4β2 receptor. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). The drug acts by inhibiting the α4β2 subtype of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the central nervous system—a mechanism believed to modulate neurotransmitter release and improve symptoms associated with depression. Ropanicant is orally active and has demonstrated safety and tolerability in healthy subjects during clinical trials[1][2][4][8]. The developer is Suven Life Sciences.
