Overview
Ropinirole is a small molecule pharmaceutical drug classified as a dopamine agonist. It is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as tremors, stiffness, slowed movements, and balance problems. Ropinirole is also indicated for the treatment of restless legs syndrome (RLS), a neurological disorder characterized by uncomfortable sensations in the legs and an urge to move them. The drug works by mimicking the action of dopamine in the brain, compensating for low levels of this neurotransmitter that are associated with both Parkinson's disease and RLS[1][2][3][5].
