Ropivacaine + betamethasone is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for local infiltration analgesia in surgical settings, particularly for postoperative pain management. Ropivacaine is an amide-type local anesthetic that blocks nerve impulse transmission by inhibiting sodium channels, resulting in loss of sensation and pain relief at the site of administration.
