Overview

Ropivacaine is an amide-type local anesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby inhibiting nerve impulse propagation and inducing reversible loss of sensation. Betamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory effects, thought to prolong block duration when used perineurally. Clonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist with analgesic effects, also known to prolong and intensify local anesthetic nerve blockade when used as an adjuvant.
