Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination drug formulation containing ropivacaine (a local anesthetic), diclofenac (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), and water for injection. Ropivacaine blocks the generation and conduction of nerve impulses by increasing the threshold for electrical excitation in the nerve, slowing nerve impulse propagation, and reducing the rate of action potential rise by blocking sodium channels. Diclofenac works through anti-inflammatory mechanisms by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes. This combination is used for local or regional anesthesia and pain management, particularly for postoperative pain relief. The combination may provide complementary mechanisms of action, with ropivacaine providing local anesthetic effects and diclofenac providing anti-inflammatory effects.
