Overview

This is an investigational multidrug cocktail developed by Atlantic Health System for the management of postoperative pain. The combination consists of four active ingredients: ropivacaine, a long-acting amide local anesthetic; epinephrine, a vasoconstrictor that prolongs the duration of the anesthetic; ketorolac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides systemic and local analgesia; and clonidine, an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that enhances the effects of local anesthetics. The cocktail is administered via direct injection into the surgical site to provide multimodal analgesia, aiming to reduce postoperative narcotic consumption. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for patients undergoing soft tissue tumor resection.
