This drug combination is a multimodal analgesic cocktail designed for local infiltration anesthesia (LIA) to manage postoperative pain in patients undergoing surgery for kidney neoplasms, such as laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Developed by the Department of Anesthesiology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University, the mixture combines the long-acting amide local anesthetic ropivacaine and the intermediate-acting lidocaine to provide rapid and sustained blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels. Dexamethasone is included as a glucocorticoid adjuvant to prolong the duration of the sensory block and provide local anti-inflammatory effects. Dexmedetomidine, a highly selective alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, further synergizes with the local anesthetics to enhance the quality and duration of analgesia through peripheral mechanisms. This combination aims to reduce postoperative opioid consumption and facilitate faster recovery (ERAS) in oncological urology patients.
