Rosa moschata extract is a plant-derived product obtained from the fruit, leaves, or seeds (commonly rosehip) of the Rosa moschata (musk rose) shrub. Traditionally used in folk medicine, contemporary pharmacological studies demonstrate antispasmodic and antidiarrhoeal activity, likely owing to voltage-gated calcium channel blockade, resulting in gut motility inhibition. Additional evidence indicates neuroprotective, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, anticholinesterase, and memory-enhancing effects in experimental models, possibly mediated by modulation of oxidative stress markers, neurotransmitter systems, anti-inflammatory pathways, and GABAA receptor upregulation. Cosmetically, the extract (especially oil) is valued for its high content of essential fatty acids (linoleic, omega 3, 6, and 9), vitamins (A, C, and E), and antioxidants, supporting skin regeneration, wound healing, and anti-aging effects[1][2][3][4][5][6].
