Overview

*Rosa roxburghii* (also known as chestnut rose or Cili) is a medicinal plant from the Rosaceae family, native to China and widely used in traditional Chinese and Miao ethnomedicine. It is characterized by an exceptionally high content of bioactive compounds, including vitamin C, superoxide dismutase (SOD), polyphenols, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and polysaccharides. Pharmacological research has demonstrated that *Rosa roxburghii* extracts possess potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and metabolic-regulating properties. It has been investigated for its therapeutic potential in managing various conditions, including digestive disorders (such as gastric ulcers and ulcerative colitis), type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and certain cancers. While available as a botanical extract for research purposes, it is primarily classified as a natural product or nutraceutical rather than a conventional pharmaceutical drug.
