ROSACT

ROSACT is a branded generic formulation of rosuvastatin, developed and marketed by Vasolife Healthcare. As an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin), it works by competitively inhibiting the enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, which is the rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis. By blocking this enzyme in the liver, it increases the expression of LDL receptors on hepatocyte membranes, thereby enhancing the uptake and catabolism of LDL cholesterol. ROSACT is administered orally as a tablet and is indicated for the management of hyperlipidemia (lowering LDL and triglycerides while increasing HDL) and for the reduction of cardiovascular disease risk, including myocardial infarction and stroke.
