Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rose apple extract refers to the concentrated, bioactive preparation obtained from the fruit, leaves, or other parts of the rose apple (*Syzygium jambos*), a tree widely used in traditional medicine and increasingly studied for its potential pharmaceutical and nutraceutical uses. The extract is rich in phenolic compounds, flavonoids (including glycosylated forms such as myricetin and quercetin derivatives), ellagitannins, and triterpenoids. It exhibits a spectrum of biological activities including significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, likely due to these compounds. Traditional and experimental uses of rose apple extract include management of diabetes, reduction of oxidative stress, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and possible anticancer effects, and relief of various inflammatory conditions. It is also used as a tonic for brain and liver health, diuretic, and in the treatment of fever, digestive disorders, and pain. Clinical mechanisms of action are not fully elucidated but are presumed to involve free radical scavenging, modulation of inflammatory pathways, and possible antimicrobial target interactions[3][5][7][9].
