Rosemary extract gel is a botanical therapeutic formulation developed by researchers at Ain Shams University for the management of periodontitis. The formulation specifically utilizes a 5% concentration of rosemary (*Rosmarinus officinalis*) extract, which is rich in bioactive phenolic compounds such as carnosic acid, rosmarinic acid, ursolic acid, and chlorogenic acid. These constituents provide a combination of antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. In clinical applications, the gel is administered as a local drug delivery system directly into deep periodontal pockets (>5mm) as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal therapy (scaling and root planing). It is primarily intended to reduce periodontopathogens and improve clinical attachment levels in patients with Stage III periodontitis.
