Rosemary supercritical extract is a concentrated preparation obtained from the leaves of *Rosmarinus officinalis* (rosemary) using supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), typically with carbon dioxide as the solvent. This method preserves and concentrates key bioactive compounds such as carnosic acid, carnosol, rosmarinic acid, 12-methoxycarnosic acid, methyl carnosate, and various monoterpenes including α-pinene and 1,8-cineole[3][5][6][8]. The extract exhibits potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties due to its high content of phenolic diterpenes. It has demonstrated antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and antifungal effects[6]. Mechanistically, it inhibits lipid metabolism in cancer cells by downregulating enzymes like DHFR and GARFT involved in DNA synthesis[4]. Rosemary supercritical extract has been studied for use as an adjunct therapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), colon cancer, breast cancer—showing synergy with chemotherapeutics such as cisplatin and pemetrexed—and is approved for human use by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)[4]. It is also used in food preservation for its antioxidant capacity.
