Overview

Rosiridin is a bioactive monoterpene glycoside primarily derived from the roots of the plant *Rhodiola rosea* (Golden Root). It is recognized for its potential therapeutic effects in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. The primary mechanism of action involves the inhibition of monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) and monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B), enzymes responsible for the degradation of key neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. By preventing this degradation, rosiridin may enhance mood and provide neuroprotection. Research, including in vivo studies using rotenone-induced models, suggests that rosiridin possesses significant antioxidant and neuroprotective properties, making it a candidate for the management of Parkinson's disease and depression.
