Rosuvastatin is a statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) used to lower cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, and treat familial hypercholesterolemia. It works by competitively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, leading to decreased cholesterol production and increased hepatic uptake of LDL[1][2][5][6][8]. BCX7353 is a synthetic small molecule oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor developed for hereditary angioedema (HAE). It inhibits plasma kallikrein within the kallikrein-kinin system to prevent bradykinin-mediated swelling attacks. BCX7353 is taken orally for both acute treatment and prophylaxis of HAE[3][7].
