Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Droptop** is an oral fixed-dose combination of **rosuvastatin** and **ezetimibe** developed and marketed by Ildong Pharmaceutical for hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia. Rosuvastatin competitively inhibits 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase, reducing hepatic cholesterol synthesis and increasing hepatic clearance of low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol. Ezetimibe inhibits Niemann-Pick C1-like protein 1 in the intestinal brush border, reducing dietary and biliary cholesterol absorption. The dual mechanism provides greater low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol reduction than rosuvastatin alone. Droptop is supplied as film-coated tablets containing ezetimibe 10 mg with rosuvastatin 5 mg, 10 mg, or 20 mg.
