rosuvastatin + pantoprazole

A combination of rosuvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to lower lipid levels and reduce cardiovascular risk, with pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce stomach acid production. Clinical studies have shown no significant pharmacokinetic interaction between these medications when used concomitantly. Some research suggests that chronic PPI use may actually enhance the LDL-C lowering efficacy of statins, with one study showing a 6.4% greater LDL-C reduction in individuals on statin + PPI compared to statin alone, with the effect being most pronounced with rosuvastatin (10.8% greater reduction).
