Overview

This is a combination immunization regimen consisting of three vaccines commonly administered together in infant immunization schedules: - **Rotarix** is a live attenuated oral vaccine derived from the human 89-12 strain (G1P[8]) of rotavirus. It induces immunity by replicating in the small intestine and stimulating an immune response to protect against severe gastroenteritis caused by multiple serotypes of rotavirus. The precise mechanism of protection is not fully understood but involves mucosal and systemic immune responses[6][8]. - **DPT-HepB-Hib** (also known as the 6-in-1 or pentavalent/hexavalent vaccine) is an injectable combination vaccine that protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B virus infection, and invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b. It works by inducing specific antibody responses to each component antigen[3][4]. - **OPV** (oral polio vaccine) contains live attenuated poliovirus strains that replicate in the gut and induce both humoral and mucosal immunity against poliomyelitis. These vaccines are co-administered to provide broad protection against several serious childhood diseases.
