Rotasil

Rotasil is a live-attenuated, oral, pentavalent rotavirus vaccine developed by the Serum Institute of India to prevent rotavirus-induced gastroenteritis in infants. It is composed of five bovine-human reassortant strains (G1, G2, G3, G4, and G9) built on a bovine rotavirus (UK) backbone. A key feature of the vaccine is its thermostability (marketed as Rotasil Thermo), which allows it to remain stable at temperatures up to 25°C for several months, facilitating distribution in low-resource settings where cold chain maintenance is challenging. The vaccine is administered in a three-dose schedule and has been prequalified by the World Health Organization (WHO). In Turkey, it is sponsored and distributed by Keymen İlaç, a subsidiary of Alagöz Holding.
