Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rotavirus PLUS is a live-attenuated oral vaccine developed and marketed by Boryung Biopharma for the prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants. It contains a live-attenuated human rotavirus strain, typically of the G1P[8] genotype, which is the most prevalent cause of severe diarrheal disease in children worldwide. The vaccine works by inducing active immunity, mimicking a natural infection to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies (primarily intestinal IgA) and cellular immune responses. This provides protection against subsequent exposure to wild-type rotavirus. It is administered as an oral series starting at 6 weeks of age and is part of Boryung's portfolio of pediatric vaccines in South Korea.
