The HRV PCV-free liquid vaccine is a live-attenuated, monovalent oral human rotavirus vaccine developed by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline). It contains the RIX4414 strain of human rotavirus, which belongs to the G1P[8] genotype. This specific formulation was developed to ensure the absence of porcine circovirus type 1 (PCV-1) and type 2 (PCV-2) DNA fragments, which were detected in earlier versions of the vaccine. The vaccine is presented as a ready-to-use liquid in a prefilled oral applicator, eliminating the need for reconstitution with a buffer. It is indicated for the prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants and is typically administered as a two-dose series starting at 6-12 weeks of age.
