Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug entry refers to the concomitant administration of a rotavirus vaccine and the hexavalent combination vaccine Vaxelis (DTaP-HBV-IPV-Hib), developed by MCM Vaccines B.V. (a joint venture between Merck and Sanofi). Vaxelis is indicated for active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b in infants and toddlers. It combines antigens from Sanofi (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, and Polio) and Merck (Hib and Hepatitis B). The rotavirus vaccine component (such as RotaTeq or Rotarix) provides protection against rotavirus gastroenteritis through live-attenuated viral strains. This combination is typically administered as part of a routine pediatric vaccination series at 2, 4, and 6 months of age.
