Overview

Rottercept is an injectable drug currently under investigation for the treatment of non-transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia (NTDT). Based on its therapeutic area and the characteristics of similar drugs, it is likely an activin receptor ligand trap. This class of drugs functions by modulating signaling pathways, such as those within the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily, to promote erythroid maturation and enhance red blood cell production, thereby addressing the ineffective erythropoiesis that is a hallmark of beta-thalassemia.
