Overview

Rouvax is a live attenuated measles virus vaccine indicated for the prevention of measles in children from 9 months of age. It is administered as a suspension for injection, reconstituted from powder and diluent, and can be given subcutaneously or intramuscularly. The vaccine contains live attenuated measles virus and is designed to stimulate an immune response that confers protection against future infection by the wild-type measles virus. Rouvax should not be used in individuals with true allergy to egg protein, known allergy to any constituent of the vaccine, previous allergic reaction to a similar vaccine, congenital or acquired immune deficiency (except certain HIV-infected children), or during pregnancy[7]. The primary indication is immunization against measles.
