Rowatinex

Rowatinex is a phytotherapeutic preparation containing a specific combination of monoterpenes, including alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, camphene, borneol, anethole, fenchone, and cineol. It is primarily indicated for the management of urolithiasis (urinary stones) and as an adjunct in medical expulsive therapy (MET) to facilitate the passage of stone fragments following extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Rowatinex exerts its therapeutic effect through several pharmacological actions: it serves as an antispasmodic by relaxing ureteral smooth muscle, which reduces renal colic pain and promotes stone migration; it acts as a mild diuretic to increase urine flow and aid expulsion; and it provides anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects to protect the urinary mucosa. Furthermore, it has been shown to stabilize urine pH and increase the solubility of calcium salts, thereby assisting in the prevention of stone recurrence (metaphylaxis).
