Roxall house dust mite allergoid

Roxall house dust mite allergoid is a specific subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) developed by Roxall Medizin for the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis caused by house dust mites (*Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*). The product is a modified allergen extract, or allergoid, produced by chemically cross-linking native mite allergens with glutaraldehyde. This modification is designed to reduce the allergen's IgE-binding capacity, thereby minimizing the risk of immediate-type allergic reactions (such as anaphylaxis) during administration, while preserving the T-cell epitopes necessary for therapeutic efficacy. By administering increasing doses, the therapy induces immune tolerance by shifting the immune response from a Th2-biased allergic profile toward a Th1 and regulatory T-cell (Treg) response, which is characterized by the production of allergen-specific IgG4 blocking antibodies and a long-term reduction in clinical symptoms.
