Overview

RP-7 is a first-in-class bioactive peptide designed based on the conserved prenylation motif of the Migration and Invasion Enhancer 1 (MIEN1) protein. Developed by researchers at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, RP-7 targets the MIEN1 signaling pathway to inhibit cancer cell migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). It physically binds to MIEN1, forming a MIEN1-peptide complex, and suppresses epidermal growth factor (EGF)-induced nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) nuclear translocation. In preclinical models of metastatic breast cancer, RP-7 has demonstrated significant inhibition of tumor growth and is well-tolerated.
