Overview

RP-G28 is a novel, ultra-purified, high-concentration galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) developed as an orally administered microbiome modulator for the treatment of lactose intolerance. Its mechanism of action involves promoting the growth and abundance of lactose-fermenting bacteria such as *Bifidobacterium* and *Lactobacillus* in the gut. This shift in gut microbiota enhances colonic adaptation to lactose by increasing bacterial fermentation capacity, thereby reducing undigested lactose in the colon and alleviating symptoms like abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea associated with lactose intolerance. Clinical trials have shown that RP-G28 significantly reduces symptoms of lactose intolerance and improves milk/dairy consumption and quality of life for patients. The drug was originally developed by Ritter Pharmaceuticals (now part of Qualigen Therapeutics), with additional development contributions from the University of British Columbia[1][2][3][4][5][6].
