RP101

RP101 refers to two distinct investigational drug candidates. The first is a first-in-class, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of Heat Shock Protein 27 (Hsp27), originally developed by RESprotect GmbH for the treatment of pancreatic and other gastrointestinal cancers. RedHill Biopharma previously held an option to acquire this candidate but terminated the agreement in 2017. The second is a topical ophthalmic formulation of 17-beta-estradiol developed by Redwood Pharma for the treatment of moderate-to-severe dry eye disease (DED) in postmenopausal women. This version utilizes the IntelliGel drug delivery system, a thermosensitive supramolecular hydrogel that permits sustained drug delivery on the ocular surface by gelling at eye temperature.
