RP22 (also known as HS625) is a recombinant tuberculosis allergen developed by Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical for the diagnosis of *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* infection. It is designed as a diagnostic skin test reagent, similar in application to the traditional Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) tuberculin test. RP22 typically utilizes specific recombinant proteins, such as ESAT-6 (Early Secretory Antigenic Target-6) and CFP-10 (Culture Filtrate Protein-10), which are expressed by *M. tuberculosis* but are absent in the *Bacillus Calmette-Guérin* (BCG) vaccine strain and most non-tuberculous mycobacteria. This specificity allows for improved differentiation between true TB infection and prior BCG vaccination or environmental mycobacterial exposure. The product is administered via intradermal injection to elicit a delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response in individuals previously sensitized to tuberculosis antigens.
