Overview

RP438 is an engineered host defense peptide (dHDP) therapeutic developed by Riptide Bioscience. It is designed to mimic naturally occurring antimicrobial peptides with enhanced stability and activity. RP438 exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal properties against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including drug-resistant strains, by disrupting bacterial cell walls through electrostatic interactions. It is also effective against bacteria in biofilms. Currently in preclinical development, RP438 is being investigated for topical applications such as wound and burn recovery, keratitis, diabetic ulcers, and topical infections, as well as potential use in cystic fibrosis.
