Overview

RP916 is a small-molecule antiviral agent being developed by Risen Shanghai Medical Technology for the treatment of mpox virus infection. It functions as an inhibitor of the viral DNA polymerase, an essential enzyme required for the replication of the mpox virus genome. By targeting this polymerase, RP916 aims to block viral replication and reduce viral load in infected patients. The drug is being developed in collaboration with the Shanghai Center for Infection and Immunity Technology Innovation and is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
