Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RQ3033 is an mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine developed by Walvax Biotechnology in collaboration with Fudan University and Shanghai RNACure Biopharma. It is specifically designed to target the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron XBB.1.5 variant. The vaccine utilizes mRNA technology to encode the viral spike protein, which, upon administration, is translated by host cells to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell responses against the virus. In December 2023, RQ3033 was granted emergency use authorization (EUA) by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China for use as a booster dose to address the prevalence of XBB subvariants.
