Overview

RR-M01 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor macrophage (CAR-M) cell therapy developed by RocRock Biotechnology for the treatment of HER2-positive solid tumors. The therapy involves engineering a patient's macrophages to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific to the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2). Unlike CAR-T cells, CAR-M cells are designed to penetrate solid tumor tissues more effectively, where they can directly phagocytose HER2-expressing cancer cells and secrete pro-inflammatory cytokines to remodel the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Additionally, these macrophages function as professional antigen-presenting cells, potentially stimulating a secondary T-cell-mediated anti-tumor response. RR-M01 is currently being evaluated in investigator-initiated trials for recurrent and refractory ovarian cancer, with preclinical development ongoing for other HER2-positive indications.
