Overview

RS7 is a murine monoclonal antibody (IgG1) originally developed by the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. It targets a tumor-associated antigen known as EGP-1 (epidermal glycoprotein-1), a 46–48 kDa glycoprotein also referred to as cluster 13. This antigen is expressed primarily on carcinomas such as those of the lung, stomach, urinary bladder, breast, ovary, uterus, and prostate. The RS7 antibody binds to EGP-1 with limited reactivity to normal human tissues and is rapidly internalized into target cells after binding. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that radiolabeled or immunoconjugated forms of RS7 can localize to tumors and exhibit anti-tumor activity in animal models. The drug was investigated for use in neoplasms including non-small cell lung cancer but development has been discontinued[5][1].
