RSU saliva substitute is a topical medical device developed by Rangsit University (RSU) in Thailand for the symptomatic relief of xerostomia (dry mouth). Formulated as both a solution and a gel, the product is available in multiple flavors, including sweet mint, sweet vanilla, and lemon. It functions as a physical lubricant and moisturizer for the oral mucosa, mimicking the properties of natural saliva without containing a specific active pharmaceutical ingredient. Designed as a cost-effective alternative to commercial products like Biotene and GC Dry Mouth Gel, clinical trials have demonstrated its effectiveness in maintaining mucosal wetness and relieving dry mouth symptoms. The development of the formulation was supported by a grant from Rangsit University in 2022.
