rsu1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the Ras suppressor protein 1 (RSU1) gene. RSU1 is a key component of the Integrin-Linked Kinase-PINCH-Parvin (IPP) cell adhesion complex, which plays a critical role in regulating cell adhesion, migration, and signaling. In high-grade gliomas, RSU1 is often deleted or downregulated, contributing to tumor cell invasiveness. siRNA-mediated depletion of RSU1 disrupts the IPP complex, particularly reducing the levels of the binding protein PINCH1, which leads to decreased cell adhesion and enhanced migratory capacity in oncogenic cells. Furthermore, RSU1 depletion has been shown to modulate downstream signaling pathways, including the inhibition of Akt phosphorylation on serine 473 and the regulation of the JNK pathway. It is primarily utilized as a research tool to investigate the molecular mechanisms of tumor progression and the functional consequences of chromosome 10p13 deletions in glioblastoma.
