RSV IMP 4 is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by Sanofi for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. It is one of several formulations (including IMP 5 and IMP 6) being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT05660850) that also investigates mRNA vaccines for avian influenza A(H5N1). The vaccine utilizes mRNA technology to encode a viral antigen, typically the stabilized prefusion conformation of the RSV fusion (F) protein, which is delivered via lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Upon intramuscular administration, the mRNA is translated by host cells to produce the antigen, triggering an immune response characterized by the production of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activation to protect against RSV-associated respiratory disease.
