Overview

The RSVdG vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine (LAV) developed by Intravacc for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. It is engineered using reverse genetics to delete the gene encoding the RSV attachment (G) protein, resulting in an attenuated virus that still expresses the major antigen, the fusion (F) protein. This design allows the vaccine to elicit a protective immune response without the pathogenic effects associated with the G protein. Administered intranasally, the vaccine mimics natural infection to stimulate local mucosal and systemic immunity. A Phase I clinical trial in healthy adults demonstrated that the vaccine is safe, well-tolerated, and does not result in the shedding of infectious virus. Intravacc is currently seeking development partners to advance the vaccine into pediatric clinical trials.
