Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RT-114 is an investigational, orally administered GLP-1/GLP-2 dual agonist being developed for the treatment of obesity. It utilizes the RaniPill capsule technology to deliver a biologic (PG-102, an Fc-fusion protein conjugated GLP-1/GLP-2 dual agonist) orally, achieving bioavailability and weight loss effects comparable to subcutaneous injection of PG-102. The mechanism of action involves simultaneous activation of both the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) and glucagon-like peptide 2 receptor (GLP-2R), which may result in higher quality weight loss and improved body composition compared to single-target therapies. RT-114 is being developed by Rani Therapeutics in collaboration with ProGen Co., Ltd., with a Phase 1 clinical trial for obesity expected to initiate in mid–2025[1][2][3].
