RT-7000 is an oral small-molecule dual agonist targeting the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the apelin receptor (APJ), currently being developed by RenaissThera for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. The drug is designed to leverage the metabolic benefits of GLP-1R activation—including glucose-dependent insulin secretion and appetite suppression—alongside the potential insulin-sensitizing and cardiovascular-protective effects of apelin receptor agonism. Developed using RenaissThera's AI-powered innovation platform, RT-7000 is positioned as a cost-effective and patient-friendly oral alternative to existing injectable peptide-based incretin therapies. As of mid-2025, the program was in the lead optimization stage, advancing toward pre-IND studies.
