Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RT1001 is a preclinical polypeptide drug candidate developed by Jiangsu Rongtai Biotech (JSRT Biotech). It functions as an antagonist of integrin alpha-V/beta-3 (αvβ3), a transmembrane receptor that is highly expressed on activated endothelial cells during angiogenesis and on various tumor cells. By blocking the interaction between integrin αvβ3 and extracellular matrix components like vitronectin and fibronectin, RT1001 inhibits the signaling pathways essential for pathological blood vessel formation and tumor cell proliferation, migration, and survival. The drug is being investigated for the treatment of neovascular eye diseases, such as wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, as well as for its potential anti-tumor activity in solid cancers.
