Overview

RTC-1119 is a preclinical, polymer-free intracameral implant developed by Ripple Therapeutics for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The implant is composed entirely of a latanoprost acid prodrug and utilizes a surface erosion mechanism to provide sustained, controlled release of latanoprost over an extended period—up to 18 months. By enhancing aqueous humor outflow through the uveoscleral pathway, it lowers intraocular pressure (IOP), aiming to improve patient compliance and outcomes compared to daily eye drops. The absence of polymers or excipients in its design minimizes inflammatory responses and allows for smaller implants with high drug loading capacity. Preclinical studies have demonstrated durable IOP-lowering effects without loss of corneal endothelial cell density[1][3][5][7].
