Overview

RTC-620 is a next-generation, fully biodegradable sustained-release intracameral implant designed to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG) or ocular hypertension (OHT). It delivers bimatoprost via a novel drug delivery platform that does not use polymers or excipients. The implant undergoes surface erosion providing zero-order release kinetics and allows for repeat dosing without pro-inflammatory degradation products. The small size and biodegradability enable multiple implants to safely reside in the eye's inferior iridocorneal angle with no adverse corneal effects observed after repeat dosing. This technology aims to improve patient outcomes by offering an alternative to topical drops for glaucoma management. Ripple Therapeutics developed the drug and collaborates with AbbVie for clinical development and commercialization.[1][4][5][6][8]
