RTI-Pulmonary (also known as TeloAT2) is an investigational mRNA-based therapy developed by Rejuvenation Technologies for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The therapy consists of modified mRNA encoding telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) encapsulated within lung-targeting lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Upon intravenous administration, the LNPs deliver the mRNA to alveolar epithelial cells, where it is translated into functional TERT protein. This transiently activates the telomerase enzyme, leading to the extension of shortened telomeres. By reversing telomere attrition—a key driver of cellular senescence and tissue degeneration in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and familial telomere syndromes—the therapy aims to restore lung regenerative capacity and halt disease progression.
